Lymphatic Drainage Massage Technique

The lymphatic system consists of a large network of lymphatic vessels and lymph nodes throughout the body. Linked to the immune system, the lymph network works to filter toxins, bacteria, viruses and other impurities from body tissue. The lymph is also a byproduct of the circulatory system and is therefore dependent on its efficacy in order to efficiently eliminate toxins from the body. Lymphatic drainage massage can speed up a slower-than-desirable detoxification process through the physical manipulation of the lymph nodes. Through the use of precise techniques to move the flow of lymph, toxins can more rapidly be moved to the nodes and destroyed.

Treatment & Results

By applying pressure, through slow and rhythmic movements, in the direction of the heart, our expert massage therapist can reopen channels where flow has been obstructed or is moving too slowly. This relieves the buildup of lymphatic fluid in the tissues, which may be the cause of swelling and puffiness, discomfort, irritation to the skin or even a dull complexion. This practice is also beneficial in giving the immune system a much-needed boost and bringing greater balance to the body.

Lymph node drainage is ideal for those who have acne or suffer from general congestion of the lymphatic system (such as puffiness of the eyes or skin irritations). A series of treatments can significantly reduce congestion of the lymphatic system and dramatically improve the skin’s appearance.

Post Care

For improved circulation of the lymph system, drink adequate amounts of water daily to help move impurities out of the tissues. Light exercise, such as walking, can also encourage better flow of lymph in the system.
Please note:
Certain medical conditions are not compatible with lymphatic drainage massage. This treatment is discouraged for individuals who suffer from cold or flu; hyperthyroid; cancer; HIV or AIDS, or other active viruses; high blood pressure; blood clots; inflamed acne or are pregnant, as it may cause an adverse reaction or exacerbate a negative condition.
